Today, as part of our Literacy session about persuasive arguments, we held a P4C. The children were shown a clip from Goodnight Mr Tom, where William is evacuated to the countryside to live with Mr Tom. We discussed the question:

Should children have been evacuated to the countryside during WW2?

Courtney – yes because they can live a safe life without fear

Immigen – I agree with Courtney because the children will also be able to have new experiences and adventures in the countryside.

Charlie – I disagree because it is wrong to tear children away from their families.
