Y1 visit the synagogue

This afternoon Year 1 had a fascinating visit to the synagogue in Sheffield. The children spotted the Star of David even before they entered and were met by Rabbi Golomb. Once inside Rabbi Golomb told the story of the burning bush and spoke about symbolism in the Jewish faith. After that we entered the synagogue itself and were amazed at the wonderful sight before us. Rabbi Golomb showed the children examples of the Torah scroll, talked about who wears a kippah and why and discussed the symbolism of the menorah. Children were then given the opportunity to hold artefacts linked to the Jewish faith. We were proud of Year 1 for remembering so many facts about our Judaism learning.
