Chestnut’s had a flour-tastic time baking this afternoon, inspired by this week’s story ‘Cake’ by Sue Hendra!
We counted out the bun cases, weighed ingredients, and explored capacity, more and less, heavier and lighter along the way. The children then used their fine and gross motor skills to mix everything together, developing strength and coordination to get the mixture just right!
We were especially proud of their turn taking and team work, waiting patiently and encouraging each other.
Our baking linked beautifully to ‘Cake’, helping the children connect their literacy learning to a real life experience. Best of all we ended with happy faces, sticky fingers, and some very tasty treats!
