Living things and their habitats

During today’s science lesson, we recapped on what a food chain was and used this prior knowledge to help us to begin to understand what a life cycle was. After given examples of life cycles, we learnt more in depth about what a crustacean is and the different examples of crustaceans such as crabs, lobsters and shrimps. It was interesting to find out that crustaceans have an exoskeleton which means that their skeleton is in fact their outer shell. Our investigation today focused on brine shrimp (also known as sea monkeys) which are also examples of small crustaceans. One spoonful of eggs went into salt water and the other spoonful into freshwater. We had to come up with a prediction as to which water would make the brine shrimp hatch the quickest.

We will be monitoring this each day so stay tuned!
