Today in Year 1 we have been learning all about Shrove Tuesday.
Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Lent begins.
Lent is the Christian period leading up to Easter, when people often give up something. We talked about the things we could give up for Lent. People use up rich food in their homes such as eggs and one way of using them is to make pancakes.
This is why most people call Shrove Tuesday “Pancake Day”
In Literacy, we have been learning all about instructions. We tried to follow instructions to make pancakes.
However, Mrs Brady spilt the pancake batter on the instructions and some words were missing!
We used our knowledge of imperative verbs to help our teachers fix this by finding the correct imperative verbs for each step of the instructions.
After all of our hard work we finally tasted the pancakes….. they were delicious!
