Residentials & Educational Visits

As part of our philosophy at Greasbrough Primary School we believe in providing children with first hand experiences right from the age of 2.  Our very youngest children go on walks in their local area as well as visiting the local library. This then culminates in a week-long residential stay in Northumberland in Year 6.

Educational day visits truly enhance the learning taking place in the classroom.  Every term children take part in an educational day visit or have a visitor in school.  We believe that this provides children with first hand experiences to deepen their learning, leading them to know more and remember more.  Visits include Bolsover Castle inKey Stage 1, Chester Zoo in Year 3/4 and Sundown Adventure Land in Foundation Stage.

Throughout Key Stage 2 children are exposed to a residential in each year group building up the time they are away from home.  Currently in Year 3 children have an overnight stay at Rand Family Farm in Lincolnshire linked to their top on Farm to Fork.  Children in Year 4 have a 2 night stay in Eyam linked to their topic on the Plague.  Children in Year 5 visit Stratford for 3 nights whilst learning about Tudor history and William Shakespeare.  Finally children in Year 6 spend 4 nights in Northumberland visiting Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle and going on a boat trip to the Farne Islands.
